This group isn't really straight European HipHop & R&B, because
they are from the USA. But when you listen to some of their best songs,
it really reminds you more of European Hip Hop and Rap, then USA HipHop/Rap.
Risqué rappers the Outhere Brothers formed in Chicago in 1987;
comprised of lyricist Malik and producer/remixer Hula, the duo debuted
in 1995 with the singles "Fu** U In The Ass" and "Don't
Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)" which were more kind of House/Rap/Dance
songs with very hard and different lyrics. They first scored big in
the States, which from after the got big in Europe.
The first two
singles topped the U.K. charts. The secong release was probably what
this group are most known for; the single "Boom Boom Boom"
which sold over a million copies only throughout Europe. In "Boom
Boom Boom" and the forthcoming singles "La La La Hey Hey",
"If You Wanna Party", "Olé Olé"
and "La de da de da de (We Like To Party), you can hear the HipHop
and Rap influences in the songs. Great rap, upbeat tempo and fat chorus.
And these two are not afraid of the language the use in the songs.
Sometimes rough, sometimes nice. This group is really one of my big
favourites of all time, and Malik's rap is one of the phattest.
The
Outhere Brothers released two albums; the debut album in 1995 "1
Polish, 2 Biscuitrs and a Fish Sandwich" and the second album
in 1998 called "The Other Side". In 2000, Malik released
a solo single called "You Don't Know Malik", and has been very active working with other artists thru all the years. For example making the song "Ball 2 U Fall" with Mike Johnson from 2-4 Family, in 2008. Read more about Malik in his own page here on the site.
Unfortnatly,
there has been no sign from this great duo since late 1998, although
they released two "Best of"-albums; "The Fuckin Hits"
in 2003 and "Dance History" in 2004.
After many years of abscene in the music business, The Outhere Brothers made their fans very happy, when in January 2008, releasing their brand new single "Shake It".
